Using iphone compatible headphones with the Galaxy S

Having lost my standard Galaxy S headphones recently I purchased a new set off Amazon. Generally these pretty cheap yet functional headphones are suitable for my needs which include listening to music and making the occasional phone call.

After receiving my headphones I noticed 2 changes:

The new updated design changed from black with silver hardware to just skinny shiny black with white rubber ear buds, this was nice;
A vast amount of noise when plugged in and listening to music/making a phone call, this was not nice.

The noise I Googled came from the fact that the headphones are now iphone compatible (I have verified this with 2 iphones and they sound fine). So what’s the solution? After a bit of searching on the net (thanks Google) I resolved this issue by purchasing an Fii LU1 Adapter cable. This cable adds about 5 cm to the headphone cord and reverses the mic and negative terminals to act as a converter between iphone headphones and Samsung Galaxy S headphone socket.

Honda Civic – Starting with a flooded engine

I currently have a 1996 civic and have found that during very cold weather my car has difficulty starting up. Just starting the engine fires the spark plugs which then does nothing and results in flooding the engine – not ideal.

After checking that this was not a spark plug issue or even a flat battery with a friend we decided it was best to find the fuel cut-off switch. I found this from a few Google searches. The solution to this problem is outlined as follows:

Put the car into neutral, this is important as I didn’t want the car to take off when starting it.
Push the accelerator pedal to the floor, when starting the car the ECU will put the engine in fuel cut-off mode.
Start the car, at this point it is really important that the car is in neutral otherwise it drives off.

This is probably the simplest fuel cut-off switch ever and a real time saver.
